Montreal, June 26th 2025/ Ascension Foundation, a fully volunteer-run nonprofit organization that supports high-level amateur athletes from Quebec, concludes its second financial aid cycle with the distribution of $5,850 to 12 athletes from seven different sports.
This support was made possible thanks to the generosity of donors from the first edition of the Défi Ascension: Move for the Athletes, a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign that raised $6,615. We extend our sincere thanks to the eleven walkers and runners who participated — without their involvement, this initiative could not have been a success. All funds raised through the campaign will be directly distributed to athletes in 2025.
The Foundation continues to pursue its goal of awarding $20,000 to 20 athletes by December 2025. So far, $10,050 has been granted to 15 athletes — putting the organization well on track to reach its target during the third aid cycle later this year.
"It’s the athletes we support who inspire us," said Sophie Bouchard, CEO and founder. "Building on what we accomplished in December 2024, we’ve expanded our network and been able to help even more athletes in need — which is precisely the mission of the Foundation. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and more motivated than ever to reach our $20,000 annual goal."
Financial aid recipient Clovis Sanscartier shared: "I’m incredibly grateful to the Ascension Foundation. As a rider for XSpeed United Continental, this financial support allows me to keep pursuing my ambitions. Thanks to your generosity, I can continue living my passion and growing as a road cycling athlete — whether it’s a local race or a major international competition. Your trust truly helps me move forward, and I’m proud to represent the Foundation at every start line."
