Montreal, April 16th 2025/ Ascension Foundation, a fully volunteer-run non-profit organization that supports high-level amateur athletes from Quebec, is proud to announce its official registration as a charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

 

With this new status, the Foundation is now able to issue tax receipts for all donations received, in accordance with CRA guidelines. This designation also opens the door to new funding opportunities, as other registered charities can now make direct donations to the Foundation.

 

Ascension Foundation’s activities have undergone a rigorous review by the CRA and meet strict compliance standards. Maintaining this charitable status is a testament to the Foundation’s transparency and sound governance. Among its ongoing obligations is the requirement to submit an annual report to the CRA outlining its activities in detail.

 

“This is an extremely important milestone for us,” says Sophie Bouchard, CEO of Fondation Ascension. “I’m confident that this new status will make it easier to raise funds and provide even stronger financial support to our athletes. Our goal is to award $20,000 in financial aid to 20 athletes by December. So far, we’ve already granted $4,200 to 9 athletes — and that was without the added incentive of tax receipts. It’s a very encouraging sign for what’s ahead.”
