Ascension Foundation's First Financial Aid Distributions After Six Months of Activity: $4,200 Granted to Nine Quebec Amateur Athletes
Montreal, January 14th 2025/ Ascension Foundation, a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting high-level Quebec amateur athletes, is proud to announce the success of its first semi-annual scholarship cycle, distributing $4,200 in performance financial aid to 9 athletes after only six months of activity.
This achievement was made possible through a crowdfunding campaign held in the fall, during which $3,750 was raised. A silent auction and rewards for the top donors rallied numerous supporters to the cause. Without the generosity of all participants, it would have been impossible to financially assist these athletes. Ascension Foundation sincerely thanks them all!
Special recognition goes to Mr. Jonathan G. Roy, a short-track speed skating enthusiast, who contributed the $500 financial aid awarded to Jordan Pierre-Gilles, 2022 Olympic gold medalist in the men's 5000m relay in Beijing.
We also thank the companies whose products were featured in the silent auction : Mont Sainte-Anne, Mont Sutton, Ski Stoneham, Golf Château-Bromont and Boutique Solo Inline.
This first bursary cycle gives us the momentum needed to reach our financial goal by December 2025: $20,000 in financial aid to be distributed to 20 athletes who face numerous financial challenges. Ascension Foundation was created specifically to alleviate these challenges so that athletes can fully dedicate themselves to their sport.
"We are thrilled to have already supported 9 amateur athletes financially after only a few months of activity," said Sophie Bouchard, CEO and founder. "We want to make a difference in the lives of many athletes at various stages of their sports careers, and this $4,200 distributed is a testament to the seriousness of our approach."
Roselyne Houde, a recipient of a performance financial aid, shared: "The financial aid from Ascension Foundation is a valuable support for my journey as a new athlete in the skeleton discipline. It will help me purchase equipment and cover travel expenses, including airfare. I will therefore be able to focus fully on my physical preparation and achieve my goals in both rugby and skeleton. Thank you for this support and for believing in Quebec athletes!"
It’s never too late to join the cause. Make a donation on our website and contribute to the success of a high-level Quebec athlete! Stay tuned on our social media for updates on upcoming events and partnerships.
